OSMC’s August update is ready with a wide range of improvements and fixes to keep your OSMC device running in tip-top shape. Kodi 17.4 has been released with a variety of fixes, and OSMC now ships with this version.

We are continuing to work on migrating OSMC to the latest version of Debian Stretch, which will provide:

  • Better performance

Bug fixes

  • Fix for a possible crash when using ALSA for audio output
  • Fix for a hangup when viewing a PVR recording and pressing Previous or Next
  • Fixes for some audio scraping issues when using Library Mode
  • Fix an issue for users with reverse proxies attempting to forward websockets
  • Fix an issue which prevented Bluetooth from working on Vero 4K
  • Fix a crash where a sad face will be displayed if the OSMC update includes a new version of Kodi and they are using a skin which uses the Skin Shortcuts add-on

Improving the user experience

  • Updated SQLite for improved local library performance
  • Add support for forcing an HDMI video mode on Vero 4K and overriding the TV EDID

Miscellaneous

  • Update ffmpeg to 3.1.9
  • Added throttling to music scraping to prevent metadata providers from being overloaded
  • Remove a warning in the recovery console when trying to mount non-existent /boot partition
