Hi,
We’ve been working hard on OSMC over the last few weeks. While we’ve mainly been focusing on fixing bugs, we’ve also had some time to improve performance and stability. Here’s what we’ve made better:
Bug fixes
- Fixed a bug sometimes preventing attached media from being shared as a Samba share
- Fixed a bug that prevented correct configuration of a custom remote in My OSMC
- Fixed a bug where applications installed via the My OSMC Application Store would claim success when the installation failed
- Fixed a bug where Recovery Mode could not be accessed if the splash screen was disabled
- Fixed a bug preventing ejection of disks from optical drives
- Fixed a bug preventing proper mounting of UDF and ISO9660 optical disks
- Fixed a bug preventing Bluetooth connectivity from persisting across reboots
- Fixed an issue where ConnMan was updating DNS nameserver entries causing resolution problems on NFS installations
- Fixed an issue with screen calibration in the OSMC Skin
- Fixed a potential bug where WiFi connectivity could be lost after an update
- Fixed an issue where performing a backup before a scheduled update prevented the update from successfully finishing
Improving the user experience
- Improve the way that OSMC establishes a WiFi connection for increased reliability
- Make it easier to select WiFi networks in the Networking panel of My OSMC
- Make the update download dialog easier to understand
- The OSMC Remote will now work out of the box on Raspberry Pis without any software setup
- Improved support for RC6 MCE, Apple TV and Xbox remotes
- Improved Raspberry Pi 2 performance via providing an accelerated <string.h> library
- Redesigned the OSMC skin to provide better colours, mouse support and more views to choose from
- Improved read speeds to external media connected via USB
Miscellaneous
- Further improve diagnostic capabilities for better troubleshooting
- Disable IPv6 connectivity by default
- Upgraded to Debian 8.1
Wrap up
To get the latest and greatest version of OSMC, simply head to My OSMC -> Updates and check for updates manually on your exising OSMC set up. Of course — if you have updates scheduled automatically you should receive this update shortly.
Enjoy!
